Only bit of electronics I have left to do is to install an LED. Can I connect an LED directly to the receiver or does it have to be part of the circuit?

Should go into your main power circuit really. Logic being that the 5v system powering the RX and LED can blow and give the impression of a dead system with the ESCs and such still being very much live.

BBB sell a handy 12v led kit but there are tonnes of options on ebay.

Yeah I figured, just hate soldering. That’s completely fair though will do that soon.
