23rd August 2025: Capital Punishment

Beetles come to London. Finally can you take the Tube to fight robots.

Live robot fighting in Wood Green (N22) on August 23rd 2025, providing 4 rounds of (UK) Beetleweight robot fighting at the Karamel Club in Wood Green where 24 roboteers do their utmost to break each others angry RC cars.

We are expecting the venue to open for roboteers around 10:00 am, the event to start around 12:00 and be finished by 6pm, allowing for a lunch break, whiteboards and ‘fun’. Everyone loves fun, right ?

This is a relaxed, social and experimental event to prove that yes, we can put on robot fights in the city.

All entrants are garanteed 4 fights, with time between each for repairs and relaxation. First round will be randomised, wher possible pitting spinners vs spinners, non vs non etc. From there the swiss system will be used via the generated Challonge bracket to decide fights, where winners fight winners and runner-ups fight runner-ups.

If there is time and desire, anyone tied on points by the end of the day is welcome to fight it out for a final ranking.

Quick heads up, the rock and robots gang are forming a coalition of 10 antweights to go defend the homeland! The R.A.B.I.D (Rock and robots Anti-Beetleweight Institution of Destruction) needs to know if there’s the space in the driver area to have a 10 robot cluster sign up.

Speaking of, last I checked we still need 1 robot, maybe 2 or 3 if we want an emergency reserve, in order to have a full team.

TLDR: Would a 10-part cluster be able to sign up?

The short answer is no.

What you mean by “a 10 part cluster” is “can we fight 10 antweights as a beetle” and it will be awful for everyone involved starting with the Arena Marshall, working through EO’s, other competitors and ending with whoever has to repair 10 ants when they get breathed on by a Beetle weapon.

But you should already know this as i’ve already replied to your collegue on discord. here is the message they may not have fowarded on:

" 1. a 10 part cluster would not work. it’s been tried and the logistics of having 10 ants driven by 10 people at arena side are a problem, as is entanglement and beaching as they get chewed up pretty quickly and end up just jamming up other robots (intentional fouling is not allowed) and generally making a mess.
Clusters are tricky enough, 2 part clusters can be fun, but bringing 10 ants wouldn’t be, for anyone!"
