I need to save some space in my ant build. What awg wire are people running? Im currently running 24awg on my n20s but it seems overkill and quite thick. My kingmax servo runs much smaller wire, probably 28 or 30 awg, and seems fine for its power draw, could i use similar gauge motors?
Short answer? Probably.
28awg is typically good for about 1-1.5 amps iirc.
We can be a bit out of spec on robots because our duty cycles are so insanely brief compared to commercial applications. However as soon as things start to heat up you’re losing significant efficiency.
Honestly imho 24awg is a pretty good size for ants in general.
thanks for the info. I was just looking through some components and it seems the 24awg on my brushless motor has much thinner insulation than this random 24awg silicone wire i have, its nearly twice as thick. I guess thats why it seems so overkill on size.
