I am working on a simple little ant spring/Cam flipper. the standard cheapo little blue jobbys don’t quite have the torque. any recommendations for a good 360 deg micro servo.
Probably better off with a 100rpm N10 / HPN20 + a red ESC for that kind of application?
Alternatively if you’re set on servos, go for the ones usually used for ant flippers (HV metal geared) and then you’ll need to mod most servos to make them 360 - an old school hack for antweight drive back in the day!
ace! thanks!
i only vaguely know what i am doing ![]()
reds are out of stock, what do you recomend as an alternative?
i am runing 2cell lipos (as its what i have) most esc i find are 1 cell or big ones for rc cars and the like, what are my best serch terms?
2S is the go to for ants!
A good alternative is If you have a Malenki you can use the third channel to run the weapon N10/N20.
Should have more stock of reds and malenkis in the next few weeks ![]()
Or if you’re going the servo mod route look for HV servos that support 8.4V
- we stock a couple.
ace on toast! thanks ![]()
A spicy N10 or N20 (like the BBB ones) will have more power than a micro servo, but if the micro servo is enough/you need the package size etc, then the cheap generic MG90 (metal gear 9G) servos are a huge step up from the plastic gear blue jobbers. They won’t run on 2S as a servo (for long), but if you unscrew the back, remove the PCB and solder your ESC wires directly to the motor, you have a 360 degree servo that will be ok up to 3S as long as you don’t run it stalled. You may also need to file a little nubbin endstop off the output shaft but not all of them come with the nubbin IIRC.
It’s not flashy, but they’re also about a quid each on aliexpress!
That’s funny, I was actually thinking of making a 360 lifter after I make a pusher.
