Houndeye - My first combat robot

Huh forgot to update here.

Rock and Robots 24 was 2:2 in the main competition (out in the quarters again), with a win and two losses in the hockey tournament.

Rock and Robots 25 should be another trip out of the groups, as I’ve got Squeezy Grape (or something purple of a similar name) and 2 others I don’t recognise. With any luck it should be another 2:1 there, maybe 3:1 or even 3:2 if I go through the second round (or is it the 4th  ).

As for the TSA situation, I’ve asked for some spare bits as an early birthday present, and have received money for the parts. I might see what’s wrong with the motor and try and fix it. Or not. Who knows?

What a disturbingly large number if googly eyes! My army is now fully assembled (minus some unfinished prototypes, a new seal printed this morning, a spinnerproof arena I’m working on for a potential future event (no further questions) and 90% of the second SOA version), and ready to march on the capita- I mean Rock and Robots. Although the fight draw was expected today, it’s yet to be released. I’m predicting the same as usual. Quarter finals before the only 4 robots allowed to enter the top four beat my lil’ guy up. Again. Champion of champions is gonna suck this year.

In other news, I found £2 stowed inside SOA. This is either because Eli stowed it away, or The Robot That Ate My Sandwich is now The Robot That Ate My Teeth, and is now the tooth fairy to keep getting away with his crimes. Besides meaning that there’s a chance half my wisdom teeth are gone, it’s cracked the chassis in a few places. It’s around a year old (think it debut at ‘15) so that’s to be expected. Either the main body, the wheels or the tracks come in white, I hear.

Rock and Robots 25 seems to have slipped by the records. I lost to Squeezy Grape (not the GG EZ I was expecting, with a loss temporarily deflating my ego more than a blobfish), but won against Sabre (fine enough) and Phillipa Table. I hear it’s been good at the 1 QRFL so far, but I remember getting a decent angle to push it down the pit nearest the camera. I won a 6-way joust with only four going through, and won in the first round! Horny Forker then kicked my teeth in. See prior point about only 4 robots being allowed to reach the semis. After some grumbling with John St Cloud, Avorax and Farrago, it was time for the side event of a 3v3. With Cygnet and Outrun Neon, I beat Boris 2, Jet and Pyramid Scheme in the first round followed by a loss to Horny Forker, John St Cloud and Step Up. If it isn’t clear, we’re dealing with Marie Antoinette but there’s 3 of them over the last 7 events (-1 in the middle for Scoot). Overall a 4:3 event. Pretty decent overall. Working off the more losses than wins ratio one at a time.

Rock and Robots 26 and 27 seems to also have been forgotten, but ‘28 is nigh! I’m up against Toestomp 2, which I have no idea what it is, Tommy from a university and Sleepy Time Herbie. I’m expecting to go at least 2:1, maybe another run at the quarter finals and perhaps a shot at the semis. My prediction is that Whalelord or Sir Googly 2 win group A, John St Cloud handles B, I take C, Little Lift sweeps D 3:0, Cygnet takes out E (unless ??? does something cool) and Outrun Neon wins G. Vlad isn’t here, but apparently he’s making Guido 4wd.

SOA has been upgraded with a new chassis after shattering at ‘27 when Cygnet got an OOTA (I think it’s the 4th time that’s ever happened) in addition to a new wedge. It can’t reverse due to motor weirdness, so the forks are useless except for ramp tomfoolery, but it’s not like they were really working anyway.

‘28 was a triumph for the seal! Many returning favourites didn’t make it, causing chaos and confusion in the groups. I still made it though. The university team wasn’t a huge problem, since they left a nice big switch you could push on the side. Toestomp 2 was apparently a reserve or something, and was a non-issue. Sleepy Time Herbie was Sleepy Time Herbie, but did get 2 wins somehow.

After that came the latest series of Survivor, which I won in the first round alongside Skib and Whalelord, and emerged victorious from the final when Outrun Neon and Little Lift kept fighting each other. This won me a small 3D printed nut, but no bolt to put it on.

Back in the main competition came Omen’s Revenge, a closely matched fight that led into a joust. By this point one of the screws that held on the wedge had come out, leading to a defeat. In addition to a decent performance in the rumble, that’s 5:1 overall!
