Is Bluetooth/Bluetooth low energy allowed for control?

This is as I would prefer to use custom stuff cause electronics fun

As long as it failsafes (the bot stops moving if the transmitter is turned off) then absolutely

Yes, I have used it and it seemed to work reliably even in the rumble despite the presence of a large number of other 2.4ghz transmitters.

Remember that the power of the RC transmitters is significantly more than a Bluetooth, I am reasonably confident that the commercial RC transmitters transmit with more power than strictly allowed, the difference is probably something like 100x.

I used a PS3 controller, but you could also use a Xbox4 controller, I’ve heard those work pretty well. The PS3 wireless controller can’t bind over Bluetooth, it needs USB which is a pain in the arse (in its original application you plug it into the console and it binds somehow). You will need some complicated libraries on the mcu side to do the correct protocols.
