MA2 - Making my axebot better

Hello everyone,

You may have seen my previous machine Mayhem Axecelerated on Mech Mania. This was my first featherweight machine and I had a fantastic time, so much so I’ve come back for more!

The main problem I had with Mayhem Axecelerated was its abject refusal to drive in a straight line. I put this down to the weight being mostly on one side of the machine due to the very heavy scooter motor being used for the weapon. This combined with 2 wheel drive meant getting other robots in front of it in order to fire the axe was a problem.

Weaponry wise I was actually very happy with the machine, it hit hard and with only a couple of exceptions proved to be quite reliable.

Onto the upgrades! The first thing I decided was that the machine needed to be 4 wheel drive. I knew I wouldn’t have the room or weight for 4 motors so belts and pulleys would have to do.

After designing the panels in Fusion I cut them out using an MPCNC router I’ve built. Now,

after a bit of “organ harvesting” From MA1 I have something I am looking forward to testing in the arena. Just needs top panels and some pink paint!

Charlie.

Well, I think it’s ready for next weekend. The lathe work on the hammer head is sub optimal but it’ll do the job!

Gorgeous! Got some major Killertron vibes going on there.

Is it coming to Northdown Havoc at the weekend then?

Killertron was very much the inspiration, it’s been a favourite ever since watching the first episode all those years ago. It’ll be there, I’m really looking forward to it!
