Max motor current

Hi all, I have been hunting for brushless motors for an antweight I am upgrading, and am curious whether or not I should worry about the max current or if it doesn’t really matter in a combat robot.

From what I have seen in other places it can cause overheating or mechanical damage to the motor, but I am not sure how much that matters when it will be running for only 2-3 minute fights max and already experiencing stress from being used to hit things.

Don’t worry about it. You’re never going to hit max current in an antweight unless you’re using a really tiny motor. A 15-20g 2000-3000Kv motor is a reasonable ballpark for most ant spinners

Also, chances are the plastic you mount the motor to will soften and bend before the motor overheats. It is possible to run smaller motors and/or higher Kvs if you are careful managing the heat

Thanks for the help!
