Robodojo round 5 came and went with another pretty good performance from Overclocked, managing 4th place this time.
Generally, the improvements to the bot seem to have paid off. The larger capacity battery did not get overdischarged, and the PTFE shims prevented the legs from melting to each other. In the 3rd fight against B-Ash, despite losing the fight I managed a sniper shot that severed one of the weapon motor wires.
There’s still room for improvement though. Throughout the day, the gears and cams were failing due to the square bore wearing away quickly, which meant during later rounds I was cobbling together sets of legs from worn down parts, leaving it not very healthy during the last round fight and the playoff. With the weight savings from making the bot smaller, I think I can afford the weight to get the gears and cams replaced with some Lasered steel ones, which will not have the same problem.
