Sandy Cheeks 🐿️

Spongeboy mibob, I have had one too many non alcoholic beverages and now I’m guna make a fekin Feather weight Drum Sander.

It all begins on a crisp afternoon about 3 weeks out from the event it’s ment to be going too (the day before POM)

Like many I have far too many random parts laying around for my own good so decided to try and do a new Bev and use up some random materials and parts. Also was interested to try out something within the 20mph Bev’s tip speed limit.

This would be were the CAD pics would be but it would be rather bold of you to presume that I did any real cad apart from the bits I had to :slightly_smiling_face:

Started with a random bar end of some 100mm diameter HPDE for the drum that was skimmed down and bored through with some bearings in each end one of which resides in the belt pulley.

A quick layout of the guns

Some 20mm HDPE bulkheads and some Delrin I believe Wheels (whatever I had laying about) along with some bike tyre that is slowly shriveling up.

Used all the he 3mm mild I had laying about so did have to buy more unfortunately.

Turned up some random bar ends in to some spacer bits and such and nicked some aluminium end caps from some other bits.

Some welding occured and some cardboarding.

Some random prints to help with packaging and aesthetics✨

Thear it be, all done and only requiring the minor and complete programming or the weapon motor and a new battery :+1: thank you rob and Gareth (and Rory for angle grinding Sandy’s cheeks down )

Lost in the cheeks :chipmunk:

The truest grit was the friends we made along the way.

But great work. Love a silly idea executed with extreme sensibleness.

Excellent work. I can confirm that the sander did indeed work on my robot and it has several considerably flatter spots than it did before.

However as you saw, Sandy Cheeks is exactly the right shape and size for Petrichor to suplex, which was a lot of fun.

The name never stopped making me laugh all day..

A fun well executed idea.
