Sealriously Bad Pun - I sealriously need to come up with more robot names

Such a curious creature!

Abracagrabra (anyone remember that thing?)! I’ve acquired a new ant! At ORCS, I discovered I had a spare malenki, which gave me enough space to build this thingie. The bearing unit pops out, there’s a hole in the front and the weapon needs a higher infill (though I do have TPU to burn) and the chassis is PLA, but overall it could be worse. Since I didn’t know I had the parts, it couldn’t make ORCS 11 but it should make it to 12. Until then, he’ll lie dormant. Watching. Waiting…

Might visit CAT without the big spooky spinner if Vlad ever gets around to that.

Looks veeerrryyyy scary.

2 questions:

How is the non motor side of the beater mounted?

How does it perform inverted?

Beautiful robot here Alex

A ring of bearings that keeps slipping out. It also runs fine inverted, just without the forks (which might be a good thing for the added reach).

Does still need work to secure it properly. You can see in the photo how it’s popped out it’s holder. The wheels are also loose, and the wires are highly exposed.

Seems like a flanged bearing on the inside face would be an easy fix

Yes, for I have seen Abracagrabra twice.

May I suggest (for the eventual beetleweight) Big Seal?

i always like a wide wheeled egg beat, got my own but a drum now so ill wanna fight :stuck_out_tongue:. perhaps the next orcs

Waiting for Seal the Deal!

I was thinking last night I should have built an eggbeater rather than the monstrosity I’ve actually spent time on the last couple of weeks..
looks fun, will you bring it to Grocs in march?

You do know how far away there is from Hertfordshire?

not sure exactly, it’s in gloucester, just off the M5.. (or about 15-25 mins walk from the station)

3 hours approx…

i would say it’s worth the drive tho

Problem is, my dad’s the one behind the wheel

Probably

What’s a flanged bearing?

Without sounding facetious, it’s a bearing with a flange hah.

Basically it functions the same except it has a lip machined into the outer race so it can’t be pushed through the hole it gets installed in
