I was sitting in my room, about to boot up a videogame when I got ambushed by my mum and grandpa (over video call) and asked to show off my robots. I gave TSA a spin up test, mauled some targets (top panel on one is hanging off, another (OG OG SOA chassis that never got used due to being too small) got ripped clean in two!) and they wandered off. Then suddenly it stopped moving and spinning up spun the chassis, before the weapon stopped completely.
4 key screws were missing, leaving the weapon motor hanging on by the wires, the weapon screws were loose and the motor itself wouldn’t spin at all. I found 3 of the things in and around the testing sandpit (I was behind a glass door for safety), but the rest still needs diagnosing. So now I have to deal with a broken antweight a week and a half before it’s second tour of duty in Oxford, and I’ve now roped you into helping!
Screws: Always seem to be coming loose. If anyone knows how to stop them shaking loose, please tell me. Maybe one got stuck inside the weapon motor. Consider this the side objective however, as post-fight maintenance should cover this.
Weapon motor: I’ve had a look around it but there’s no sign of anything jammed inside, the only thing in it are the wires to the ESC (probably meant to be there). I can’t tell if there’s any damage to the wires that make it spin (to win, as some would say) and I’m not sure how to pry the rotor and stator apart to find out, or how to un-pry them. I’m fairly sure it’s something to do with this.
Weapon ESC: One of the wires is loose, but still connected. This might be causing a sort of auto-shut off (I found out it has this when I tried to poke the wires directly into a lipo, it somehow didn’t burn the house down) or a short. For now I’ve put on some electrical tape to keep the loose wire on, but it probably won’t hold up in a fight.
I also lost the locking bar, but you guys probably can’t help with that unless your omniscient.
