What CNC/Waterjet services would you recomend for Hardox 450 or similar to be used in spinners?

Hello! I’ve recently been working on my first bot, which I decided would be a beetleweight vert. While I know I should probably start with a pusher, I wanted to do this as a fun project, and have generally found it doable up to this point. But I’ve run into the issue of how to source an actual blade. I made a cad model and was initially planning on making it out of AR500, as that seemed to be a popular choice, but then learned that it’s hard to come by in the UK, and Hardox 450 is ideal. Despite changing materials, I cannot seem to find anywhere willing to machine 4mm Hardox 450, I’ve seen Hardox 400 and 500, but not any 450, that can be machined at least.

So my question is how do you all obtain weapons, do you just use other materials and am I massively overthinking the importance of using 450, or if not, which services do you use? I would also be happy to use a pre-made weapon, but can’t seem to find any being sold in the uk.

Thanks very much!

Hi William welcome to the forum!

Most often UK builders do a group order (to keep it cheap) from Lasered - who I do believe have both 400 & 500 grade hardox or equivalent.

As a material it’s not typically machined it’s either waterjet or plasma cut.

Thanks very much! I’ll have a look
